My Art Workshop: Today’s Update

When you are working, sometimes difficult thoughts creep into your head– that you’ll put a lot of work into something that may end up being a disappointment. As I think about it though, I realize that not every piece has to be great or even good. The point is to work and to learn something. Hopefully, I will end up with a good painting at the end.

This process is new and I’m not used to working at this like it’s my job– which, dream of dreams– I wish that it would be. So cheers to dreaming and striving– to the journey and hopefully a good story to tell, no matter where I end up…

About Rachel Heu

"Creativity is an act of defiance. You're challenging the status quo. You're questioning accepted truths and principles. You're asking three universal questions that mock conventional wisdom: Why do I have to obey the rules? Why can't I be different? Why can't I do it my way?" --Twyla Tharp, The Creative Habit: Learn It and Use It For Life (pg. 133)

That’s a good idea. So right now, you’re probably painting. :=) • I create stuff and I’ll wear or use it for a while and maybe I’ll get a lot of good compliments upon it, yet sometimes it just never had that right feeling for me, so I’ll take it apart or change it and create something different and new.
