When It Rains: Green Sunflowers

“In joy or sadness, flowers are our constant friends.”

–Kazuko Okakura

(I saw a photo of green sunflowers in a book called “Flowers: Chic & Cheap” by Carlos Mota, and I couldn’t wait to try to paint my own version to go with the rest of my sunflowers. So the way to get green sunflowers is by picking off the yellow petals to reveal the green “petals” underneath. I made several tries at painting, using some different techniques.)

About Rachel Heu

"Creativity is an act of defiance. You're challenging the status quo. You're questioning accepted truths and principles. You're asking three universal questions that mock conventional wisdom: Why do I have to obey the rules? Why can't I be different? Why can't I do it my way?" --Twyla Tharp, The Creative Habit: Learn It and Use It For Life (pg. 133)
