Sketch Diaries: Joyful Noise (II)

Today’s work is a 5.5″x5.5″ watercolor, watercolor pencil drawing of a bouquet from my Sketch Diaries. I like to dance when I paint. Lately, I listen to podcasts of C89.5 The Vortex— A consistent, truly awesome radio show that plays talented DJs/ producers every week locally here, in Seattle. It’s been one way that I’ve gotten rid of block. I wonder if they’d be surprised that I was rockin’ out paintings to their show? I bet a lot of artists around here do that 🙂 Lots of fun! What helps you get your work done?

About Rachel Heu

"Creativity is an act of defiance. You're challenging the status quo. You're questioning accepted truths and principles. You're asking three universal questions that mock conventional wisdom: Why do I have to obey the rules? Why can't I be different? Why can't I do it my way?" --Twyla Tharp, The Creative Habit: Learn It and Use It For Life (pg. 133)
