Crazy-Mad for Color: Paintings from a Dream

dreaming, I’m in a trance…

(I saw this in a dream)

Waking up from a nap… I rush to my drawing table…what did I see in that dream… and I put in on paper…

Thinking about everything that’s going on, I get a little angry… and for a moment, I’m happy that way.

About Rachel Heu

"Creativity is an act of defiance. You're challenging the status quo. You're questioning accepted truths and principles. You're asking three universal questions that mock conventional wisdom: Why do I have to obey the rules? Why can't I be different? Why can't I do it my way?" --Twyla Tharp, The Creative Habit: Learn It and Use It For Life (pg. 133)

Color and texture are 2 of my favorite attributes. I love these pieces! 🙂

Cool that you painted your dreams. Did you write the poem? I think it’s a good sign that you dreams have crazy mad color – much better than black and dreary.

      Hi B,

I dream in luscious color. Some people say that it’s impossible to dream in color… But I know they’re wrong. Do you dream in color?

I think that the subscription emailed my post before I updated it and saw a reference to a song that I love. I have been listening to it a lot during these paintings. Sometimes a song becomes a sort of meditation for me if it really speaks to my heart and expresses what I would like to express in my art. The song is called: Song for Shelter and it’s on a Fatboy Slim album. Here is a link to the video. (Just a heads up– It has the F-word (for some, that might offend)). I took it down… but I may quote it in a later post… I just called cold feet because I was quoting a lot of it! Anyway, it’s not mine. It’s pretty awesome.

      Enjoy!
