Mad Color Gallery: Forcefield of Luminosity

With this painting, I was thinking about how I wanted the flowers to seem luminous… Paintings in my Mad Color Gallery are, ultimately, about relationships that we have with other people and the type of energy we derive from those relationships. Some relationships are positive, some negative, some are in between or a combination of both. Some are amazing and elegant.

If it is worth being called a “relationship”, that implies a sort of significance in one’s life. This painting is about retaining your inner glow, a sense of self; an authenticity irregardless of what happens to you in your life. There are events that occur; one’s that we are faced with, uncomfortably, but are unable to change.

This inner understanding of who you are and the fact that you must press on no matter what. I’m thinking about what will become of you? This is a reminder to remain unchanged and hopefully reflects the benefits thereof, as it relates to other people in a person’s life. When you are content and posess a higher understanding, your influence on others will be positive and great.

About Rachel Heu

"Creativity is an act of defiance. You're challenging the status quo. You're questioning accepted truths and principles. You're asking three universal questions that mock conventional wisdom: Why do I have to obey the rules? Why can't I be different? Why can't I do it my way?" --Twyla Tharp, The Creative Habit: Learn It and Use It For Life (pg. 133)
